Strongholds, Man sitting on bench in deep thought

Today, we’re delving deep into our intercessory prayer series to discuss strongholds. Whether you’re a successful executive or an aspiring author, know that you are not exempt from the enemy’s tactics. One of the tactics that the enemy deploys from his arsenal includes strongholds. You probably hold certain false beliefs and attitudes about who you are that were developed in childhood. These invalid beliefs and attitudes are strongholds that the enemy uses to destroy your self-esteem and self-confidence. Despite your perceived outward success, these strongholds often overwhelm your inner dialogue.

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.”

2 Corinthians 10:3-4

“You’ll never be good enough.” “Why don’t you act more like your brother?” “You can’t seem to do anything right.” These are just a few of the falsehoods that the enemy uses to disrupt your positive, God-centric inner dialogue. Know that the enemy is skilled at working in others, especially those who are closest to you, to plant these seeds of deception into your subconscious mind. If the enemy can control your thought life – he can control your life! If you have ever wondered why you habitually behave the way you do, know that it’s these invalid thinking patterns that cause you to remain in a habitual state of dysfunction. This is not God’s will for His children!

If you are tired of feeling as though you’re stuck in an infinite negative self-talk spiral, seek God’s deliverance through prayer and fasting today! You owe it to yourself to be loosed from the enemy’s strongholds, in Jesus Christ’s name. Once you’ve been set free from your specific strongholds, you must continue to guard your mind by reading and soaking in God’s Word every day!

Woman looking away deep in thought, strongholds

Intercessory Prayer for Strongholds

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you will forgive me of my sins. I believe that you gave your only begotten Son – Jesus Christ – to die for my sins. Today, I accept Jesus Christ into my life. God, I earnestly bow down to you and acknowledge you as my Lord and Savior. I thank you for being a magnificent Father. I know that it is not your will that I continue to let strongholds control my thought life. I pray that you will set me free from believing and entertaining the lies of the enemy, for I know that he is on a mission to kill, steal, and destroy according to John 10:10.

Father, according to Matthew 18:18, I believe that whatever I bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever I loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Today, I bind my every thought to your will, in Jesus Christ’s name. I loose every thought of negative self-talk that the enemy has tried to make me believe, in Jesus Christ’s name. Father, let my thoughts be your thoughts according to your promises. I pray that you will remove all falsehoods concerning my self-worth that are not aligned with your Word. Father, I ask that you forgive me of any negative self-talk and any destructive habits that I have entertained knowingly or unknowingly, in Jesus Christ’s name.

God, I pray that you will remove the following strongholds from my subconscious mind, as well as those that I am unaware of, that are buried deep within and cause me to behave negatively: hatred, malice, resentment towards God, my mother, my father and others, rage; cursing, vengeance, retaliation, violence, abuse, cruelty, sadism, unforgiveness, bitterness, being judgmental or critical, taking offense easily/irritability, burning bridges with others, isolation, loneliness, self-pity, fear of man, fear of authority, doubt/unbelief, dread, worry, anxiety, rejection, neglect, victimization, blocked intimacy, not valuing people/relationships/ending relationships, hiding/antisocial, timidity, inferiority, condemnation, disgrace, embarrassment, guilt, hatred, self-hate, cheating, theft, deception, trickery, untrustworthiness, adultery, emotional adultery, addictions, premarital sex, sexual abuse, fornication/adultery/emotional adultery, demonic sex, pornography, bondage/control, rape, incest, lust, mental illness, compulsions, confusion, hysteria, paranoia, schizophrenia, insanity, belief in poverty, greed, covetousness, debt, dishonesty, despair, helplessness, hopelessness, sadness, self-pity, withdrawal, suicide, sorrow, despair, heartbreak, loss, pain, torment, weeping, anguish, agony, arrogance, disdain, selfishness, control/pushiness, independence, callousness/lack of concern for others, gossip, sloth, laziness, distraction/ confusion/ lack of focus, not thinking things through before acting or speaking or writing, lack of organization/preparation, and lateness/tardiness, among others, in Jesus Christ’s name.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” – Romans 12:2

Father, I ask that you will convict my heart to read your Word daily. Bless me to seek your will in everything that I do. God, if I need to seek additional counseling or therapy, I pray that you will convict my spirit to be humble and request the help that I need. May your grace and mercy be upon me. I thank you for delivering me from every stronghold that once held my mind captive, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
