From founding to today, here’s how God has grown His House and the family within it.
THE POTTER'S HOUSE FOUNDED
Bishop T.D Jakes moves his family from West Virginia to establish The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas.
The first church service at The Potter’s House drew more than 2,000 people.
WOMAN, THOU ART LOOSED ESTABLISHED
Bishop T.D Jakes creates an annual national conference in New Orleans, La.
The ministry was founded by Bishop T.D. Jakes in 1996 to promote healing, restoration, and spiritual growth.
A CONGREGATION TAKES ROOT
The Dallas Morning News tags The Potter’s House “one of America’s fastest-growing churches.”
The Potter's House expanded from 50 families to what would eventually exceed 28,000 members by 2000.
A MINISTRY WITHOUT WALLS
The ministry expands through television broadcast.
The Potter's House’s international and virtual community stretches to Europe and South Africa. A state-by-state Adopt-A-Prison campaign is launched to provide the state prison system with satellite broadcast reception equipment for rehabilitative and religious programming.
THE POTTER’S TOUCH
Bishop T.D. Jakes addresses pressing issues nationally.
In October 2001, Bishop Jakes launched a national daily talk show called The Potter’s Touch, which was broadcast on TBN and BET and addressed the issues of Christians in everyday life.
ONE CHURCH, MANY HOMES
By 2013, five campuses are established.
While maintaining its main campus in Dallas, the church opened campuses in Fort Worth, North Dallas (Frisco), Denver, and Los Angeles.
JAKES DIVINITY SCHOOL LAUNCHES
Bishop launches a school to prepare leaders for future ministry in the Church and society.
The school offers accredited degrees through partnership with North Central University and Vanguard University.
A SAFE HAVEN
The Potter’s House becomes a weekly meal and supply distributor during the COVID-19 pandemic.
TPH served health care workers and emergency first responders in the immediate aftermath of COVID-19.
A NEW GENERATION LEADS
Bishop T.D. Jakes entrusts the mantle of senior leadership to Touré Roberts and Sarah Jakes Roberts.
The founder remains, while Touré Roberts and Sarah Jakes Roberts continue the mission as co-senior pastors of The Potter’s House of Dallas.
