Families, Young Girls in Yellow Smiling

This week Bishop T.D. Jakes and his ministry invite you to participate in our strategic intercessory prayer series.  Intercessory prayer has the ability to transform families, relationships, and finances, among other areas. No circumstance that we could ever imagine is too daunting for our Father to manage. We serve a magnificent Father. He is the Alpha and the Omega. So, despite the barrage of despairing narratives curated across the media, know that God is still ruler over His Kingdom!

As we are less than 30 days away from the National Day of Prayer scheduled for Thursday, May 3, 2018, God is calling us to intercede for His Kingdom today. Over the next seven days, we will highlight critical areas that the enemy inevitably attacks. Today, we will focus on family. As believers in Christ, we cannot delegate the responsibility of raising our children to their schools and daycare centers. Nor can we allow the media, entertainment industry, government, or any other entity to edify our children. From the senseless school shootings to the suicides by way of cyberbullying, the enemy is busy tormenting the minds of our children.

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” – Deuteronomy 6:6-7

Additionally, countless children are being raised in single-parent homes, particularly in our African American communities. The family dynamic is shifting significantly away from God’s divine order. However, we believe in the power of intercessory prayer. If you’re able to gather your families, please call them, send them a text message, or pray with them face-to-face, as we ask God to transform and align families with His perfect will.

Intercessory Prayer for the Family

Dear Heavenly Father, I pray that you will forgive me of my sins. I believe that you gave your only begotten Son – Jesus Christ – to die for my sins. Today, I accept Jesus Christ into my life. I thank you for my mother, father, sister(s), brother(s), aunt(s), uncle(s), grandparents, cousin(s), niece(s), nephew(s), and everyone else that I consider to be a part of my family and/or extended family. God, I earnestly bow down to you and acknowledge you as my Lord and Savior. And, whether or not my family members are saved, I believe that you will continue to provide your divine hedge of protection over them, according to Psalm 91. I know that my family, as well as other families across the world, need your guidance and protection in this dark world. Father, with all of the mass shootings at schools and public places, I ask that you will send your angels to protect me and my family, in Jesus Christ’s name. And, I ask that you will heal the broken hearts and tormented minds that the enemy has tried to cowardly control against your will. Father, we know the plans that you have for us are to prosper us, including our mental health. I ask that you will deliver everyone in my family and other families from the mental, emotional, spiritual, physical, and financial strongholds that would hinder healthy family dynamics. God, I pray that you will convict my heart as well as the hearts of others to seek mental health counseling if that is needed. I pray that you will allow us to not be ashamed to ask for help, as we know that you desire for your families to be whole.

Father, I pray that you will also bless the state of the divine family order, as many children are raised in single-parent households. I ask that your Holy Spirit provides comfort and compassion to every parent struggling to raise children on their own, in Jesus’ name. I pray that your provisions find them so that they have an abundance of food, water, and clothing for their households. May your provisions include adequate shelter, transportation, and employment for these single-parent households, as well as mine. Lord, we need your favor, your mercy, your grace every day that you gift us! There are so many broken families that the enemy is trying to torment with his deceitful ways.

“But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.” – Joshua 24:15

God, please grant us discernment to expose and dismantle the enemy’s agenda to destroy families over issues concerning finances and education, among other areas. Father, please allow us to live together in compassion and forgiveness. Allow us to walk in your mercy and grace so that we do not hold grudges toward our family members, according to Ephesians 4:31-32, in Jesus’ name. We know that holding grudges and walking in offense will hinder our blessings.

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” – Colossians 3:13

Father, bless us to seek your will in everything that we do. God, please convict our hearts to read your Word every day, for we know that the enemy seeks to attack our minds. Father, thank you for blessing my family and other families with the resources that we currently have as well as the abundance of resources that are on the horizon. May you continue to guide us as we navigate through each day’s journey, in Jesus Christ’s name. Amen.
